BABYDOLL False nails review By Meagan

Babydoll cosmetics which is located in the Beauty Expo RDS Ballsbridge Ireland, was launched on the 10th of March 2013. Here is their website. They have 6 different sets of nails to choose from, your French Manicure ones or coloured ( They currently have Red, Black and Pink)

In each pack of nails you have:

  • 24 Nails
  • 1 Glue
  • 1 Manicure Stick
  • 1 Emery Board

I for one have actually Medium nails, and I found that these had a nice selection of both small, medium and large. I have used two sets of the French Manicure nails already, first time I wore with the glue that I received in it, second time I used my own glue. The reason I used my own glue the second time around is because I felt the glue that you get in it didn’t have the greatest grip, but they’d be grand if I wasn’t a mother, doing dishes and cleaning constantly. The nails themselves felt like your own when you had them on. Slight bit of scraping if your not careful, but that’s with all nails you glue on. These retail for €5.99 which I think is a bargain, as you pay upwards of €7.99 for what you receive here. I hope they bring out different types of nails, with funky designs and such. I would be really interested to try them out!

I would definitely suggest having a look into these, especially for the price. Has anyone else bought anything from Babydoll before? What did you think?11901620_991600704194753_1810097027_o (2)

Seventeen Define & Conquer Contour Kit review by Meagan

image

I’ll talk about the brush first, it is the cheeks brush. It is a flat wide brush, but when you turn it on the side, you get a a thin brush, which is great for contouring. It has synthetic hairs and it is really soft. The brush retails for €4.49 and you can buy it here on the Boots website.

I was a bit skeptical about the Define & Conquer kit, I bought it because the Seventeen stand in Boots had the makeup for 2 for €11. This alone retails for €8.49. When you open the palette, it has a contour sheet, on where to highlight and contour and also a plastic sheet to go over the product.  I feel that the contour shade is very orange on, I really don’t like the shade, and they only have Fair or Medium available. The highlight shade however, I find great for setting my under-eye concealer, so it wasn’t such a huge waste of money. The powder can be a bit chalky when using your brush in it.

Would I recommend any of these products?

I got the contour kit in Medium, and it was rather orangey, so no I wouldn’t recommend that unless you want a powder for under your eyes. The brush is grand if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on one, you can easily pick up other brands cheaper though, such as PRIMARK/PENNYS for less then €3 to do the job.

DAY 7: L’Oréal Infallible Matte Final thoughts and review.

Final day wearing the L’Oréal Infallible Matte foundation.

  1. I washed my face using Murad C cleanser, and then moisturized it with Rose day cream from Aldi.
  2. I then applied L’Oréal Infallible Matte foundation without primer, and using a flat top kabuki brush.
  3. Run down of my day was; Cleaning, walking around town and chasing after my hyperactive 2 year old.
  4. It is now 11pm and I am about to wash my foundation off. I can see it has stayed perfect, as if I had just applied it.

OVERVIEW OF L’Oréal Infallible Matte Foundation & Primer.

  • Primer:

I found that this primer broke me out in a rash the times I used it, hence why I tried different methods instead. I found this very unusual for me, as I am not allergic to anything. The primer is supposed to be NON-COMEDOGENIC, which is the following;

What Does Non-comedogenic Mean?

In order to understand what “non-comedogenic” means, it may be helpful to break the word down. A comedo (or comedones, if more than one) is a type of pimple, or lesion that can form on your skin. Pimples differ according to their appearance and what causes them.

A comedo, the least severe form of acne, is the result of a clogged pore. Pores are the tiny openings in your skin that you can see when you look very closely, especially in a magnifying mirror. Inside those pores are hair follicles — sacs beneath the skin that house the hair root — and that’s where pimples begin. When your body produces excess sebum, it can combine with dead skin cells and sometimes bacteria to plug up the pore. The result is a pimple — a comedo. If the comedo is closed at the skin’s surface, it’s called a whitehead. When it’s open at the skin’s surface, and you can see the plugged follicle darkened by melanin buildup, it’s called a blackhead.

Non-comedogenic cleansers are typically oil-free. They break down the excess oils on your skin but don’t strip your skin of the necessary moisture and nutrients it needs. They are also sometimes called non-acnegenic cleansers.

One thing to keep in mind is that there aren’t really any regulations specifying what a company has to do to call its cleansers “non-comedogenic,” and products labeled that way may not work for everyone. Keep reading to find out what types of ingredients typically go into non-comedogenic cleansers so you can narrow down which one might work best for you.

I was so unimpressed by this primer, I actually complained to L’Oréal, which is very unlike me. I felt I had to bring it to their attention, as I know a few people it has happened to as well.

I felt this primer didn’t really go well with the L’Oréal Infallible foundation either, as it seemed to separate the product on my face.

  • Foundation:

I really enjoyed wearing this foundation, I felt it really stayed matte, no matter what I was doing. It didn’t budge all day. I tested it using so many methods, using different primers, different moisturizers, and the only one that didn’t agree with it was the L’Oréal Infallible Mattifying Base Primer.

OVERVIEW:

I wouldn’t recommend the primer, as I felt it wasn’t great for hiding pores or blurring them out, I found it enhanced them more so. It also made the foundation disperse and not sit well on the skin. I also had a reaction which is very unlike me.

I however would recommend the foundation, except if you are having a breakout, as you should know yourselves, it will enhance any face demons! I felt it was very long lasting, and I have tested it up to 12 hour wears. It stayed matte, and usually I get super oily on my T-Zone! It stayed flawless on. I would highly recommend purchasing it. It is currently 3 for 2 in superdrug at the moment, and if you have a beauty card you can get 10% off too!

I hope I didn’t bore you on this post, but I’d like to give my full opinion on it. Have you tried the L’Oréal Primer and liked it? Let me know in the comments!

Day 5 Review of the L’Oréal Infallible Matte

So I started my day as usual, washing my face with Murad Essential C, followed by moisturizer.

I then applied the L’Oréal Infallible Matte primer on my face followed by the L’Oréal Infallible Matte Foundation. This time I applied the foundation with my Real Techniques sponge.

I didn’t do anything major today, just chilled out.

It is now 10pm and I just looked at my foundation. I can see the foundation has dispersed on my nose, and forehead. It doesn’t seem to hold up with the L’Oréal Infallible Matte Primer.

2 more days until my in-dept review of this product.

Review: DAY 4: L’Oréal Infallible Matte

Started my day by washing my face with the Murad Pore Reform face wash and then followed with my moisturizer from Aldi.

I then applied my maybelline baby skin primer and then applied the L’Oréal infallible matte foundation.

I was having a small break out.. Women.. Ye understand why 😜

I felt the foundation enhanced my horrible chin demon.

I was go go go all morning trying to get ready for the Bloggers event (Post coming soon)

The foundation stayed perfect on my skin for the day. It got a bit oily around my nose near the end of the day. I just blotted with a bit of tissue and it was fine.

4th day wearing the foundation and another 3 more days to fully get my overall review of it.

Review: DAY 2: L’Oréal Infallible Matte

So this is my second day wearing this foundation, and this time I didn’t use the primer that matches it, to see if there was a difference.

  • I washed my face as usual and applied my moisturizer.
  • I then followed with just the Infallible Matte foundation, no primer this time to see if it made a difference.
  • I used my flat top kabuki to apply the foundation.
  • Foundation settled a bit better without the use of the primer.

To give a recap of what I have done today wearing this foundation: I cleaned the house, done my shopping, chased after a toddler, and went for a walk.

  • I have it on 9 hours now and I can only notice a small bit of it gone from the side of my nose.
  • No oil whatsoever visible.
  • Still feels like I have nothing on the skin.
  • Doesn’t look cakey.

Second day seems to have improved the way I feel about this foundation. I am going to give this a 7 day review, to make sure my thoughts on this are 100% of what I feel.

Review: DAY 1: L’Oréal Infallible Matte

First application/ First impressions.

I washed my face as usual with Murad Essential-C Cleanser and then applied my serum. I then applied my makeup an hour later. I used the guidelines on the back of the L’Oréal infallible matte primer. I then followed with the L’Oréal infallible matte foundation in Natural Rose. It is very lightweight on the skin and it feels like you have nothing on whatsoever. To me, it felt a medium coverage, but buildable. As soon as it started setting I could see it cling to dry patches I never knew i had around my eyebrow and around my eyes. It enhanced my pores and any imperfection I had, even my fine lines under my eyes.

Second application of the first day.

I say this because I washed off the makeup and exfoliated my skin to see if it would apply better. I then liberally applied moisturizer on my face, I left it soak in for about 30 minutes. I then applied the primer and foundation, this time in sand. (just wanted to see colour difference) It applied much better the second time around, but still not overly wowed! It still clung to my fine lines under my eyes. I know foundations do, do it, but this more so.

I spent the day wearing this in Ireland hot climate sitting by a small pond in Killaloe, chasing after my 2 Year old. It didn’t budge all day, it didn’t transfer and I didn’t get very oily.

Overall for the first day of using L’Oréal Infallible Matte:

  • Positives
Feels like you have nothing on your skin.
    Doesn’t transfer.
    Tamed oil in my skin.
    Didn’t budge.
  • Negatives
    Clings to dry patches.
    Enhances flaws.
Really clung to undereye fine lines.
