The New Holy Grail foundation  – Catrice New HD foundation by Lifa

Firstly i have to apologise for the lack of posts I haven’t been feeling all that motivated to write blog posts so I took a break from it hopefully I can continue to write content that everyone would be interested in.

I first came across this foundation as you do trolling through Facebook. Now who isn’t interested in a HD mattifying foundation that comes in a dropper at a bargain price. If you have seen my previous reviews you would have seen me rave about inglot’s HD foundation now I know that particular formula does not agree with everyone especially if you have oily skin but this foundation intrigued me.

Catrice is available in most pharmacys in Ireland or on simply foxy online if anyone is interested it comes in 4 shades 010 light beige,020 Rose beige,030 Sand beige 040 warm beige.I will include swatches below. This foundation is of a light runny texture so straight off the bat I thought the cover would be light maybe a buildable medium if I was lucky but boy was I wrong. This is a foundation that u you can build and build on it,it can be the lightest of coverage for day time or the fullest of coverage for night time.It truly is mattifying with out completely drying out your skin.It claims to feel like a second skin and catrice were not lying. It evens out your skin tone perfectly. It claims to last 24 hrs but I have no desire to test this theory but it will last a good 8hrs+ with the exception of eating it may wear away in the usual places but that is a given with any foundation.

I applyed this foundation using the new real techniques beauty sponge (which I love but the design of the sponge was not ideal and it fell apart in 2 halves ).I find the using the sponge in a tapping motion to apply provides the most flawless coverage. All I can say is this foundation provided me with full coverage that was matt but not totally drying it blurred my pores to the point I had to look twice to see if my face had a filter.I have never been so blown away by a drugstore foundation since boujous healthy mix.At just €7.90 it is extremely affordable and something I cannot highly recommend enough. The dropper bottle is super convenient to use and easy to mix.I bought all 4 shades cause due to bad lighting in most shops it is so hard to tell which shade would match but on the plus side it will not go to waste as I can easily customise a colour using the dropper with little or no fuss.If you have oily, combo,or normal skin then you will love this foundation. For dry skin types I would obtain a sample first as I do not know how this will react to your skin type.I hope catrice will extend their colour range on this foundation so that everyone can try it.

Run down on the shades:

010 light beige -fair yellow toned (warm)  020 Rose beige-light with peachy pink undertone (cooltoned)                                     030 Sand beige- beige     neutralundertone                                         040-warm beige medium shade with (warm) undertone darkest shade of the lot

Thanks for being patient and taking the time to read my post i would love any feed back or tips on how you get through ur blogging slump(as I call it) .Feel free to follow me on snapchat my add is Lifa14

Fake Lashes 101 by Meagan

Following from my Lashes, Lashes and More Lashes post I said I’d do a 101 on tips for applying lashes, that may, well in truly help some people. We are always getting questions in our beauty group on Facebook (if you’d like to join, you can do so here)

Type of Lashes
When buying lashes definitely try get ones with a thin band. It will definitely make the application a bit easier.

Thumb
Yes, I said it, your thumb. I find bending the lashes around the thumb helps shape them up.

Measure
Put the lashes against your eyes and measure them! You definitely don’t want to have bits poking your inner corner, or your lashes looking like they are just about to take flight!

Scissors
When your done measuring, trim your lashes to the right size. As I said previously,  you don’t want them to look like they are about to take off.

Mascara
Pop on a bit of mascara before applying the lashes, just so they blend a bit better. Then apply a bit after to join them.

Glue
Definitely pick up a good brand glue. Duo Glue is oh so popular,  and there is a reason for that. It dries to a clear finish (unless you get the dark one)
Tip: leave the glue get tacky before applying, just so it doesn’t slide around when your putting the lashes on.

Tweezers
You can either use a normal brow tweezers,  or pick up ones specifically designed for lashes. Youll get better placement and you will be able to see what you are doing.
Tip: Try to look down slightly when applying lashes, this means you can get a closer application to your own lashes. I find using a small hand held mirror helps.

TIPS
If you want more dramatic, or eye catching lashes, STACK THEM, and have fun

Hope you enjoyed the post. What do you do to apply your lashes?

Activated Charcoal: Benefits by Meagan

image
Disclaimer
Firstly I’ll start off by saying only pick up Activated Charcoal from wood or coconut sources. Do not get petroleum based. Always check with your doctor or pharmacist before trying anything you are unaware of.

Charcoal and how it works
Charcoal is a highly absorbant substance, yet it isn’t absorbed by the body. Charcoal passes through the GI system so chemicals and toxins adhere to it and are expelled by the digestive system.

I said I would do a small post on charcoal, since we all seem to have it in toothpaste now. I have two different things to use charcoal below, without ingesting it.

Charcoal and Uses
Teeth
Charcoal is great for whitening your teeth. I find using a powder version is less messy then crushing up a tablet. You just dip your damp toothbrush into the powder and brush your teeth for 2 minutes. Don’t be alarms if your teeth are black, it does wash out. Make sure your rinsing your mouth out until the water you spit is clear. Doing this actually helps balance your mouths pH levels, thus it helps prevent gum disease, cavities and helps improve bad breath issues.

**SENSITIVE TEETH**
Dab the charcoal powder onto the teeth and leave it alone for 2 minutes. Then rinse around with water. Keep rinsing until the water becomes clear.

Ance
1 capsule / Half a teaspoon of charcoal.
2 Teaspoons of Aloe Vera Gel.
Mix the ingredients above and put it all over your face. Leave it dry, then wash.
This helps remove toxin build up in the skin and helping with your acne.

Beauty obsessions by Lifa

I decided to do a current beauty obsessions post today for the simple reason is like fashion and life in general so many things change and new products/ideas become available each day.We all have our obsession whether it be one brand one type of product or clothing or beauty product etc.

I recently hauled some stuff from America (colour pop, makeup geek, starcrushed minerals). Now I cannot praise makeup geek or colour pop enough both brands have become my ride or die purchases and what I mean by that is if I have a choice of buying food or one of these I will go with buying from one of these brands. You simply cannot go wrong I haven’t found or purchased a product from either of these company’s that hasn’t completely blown me away.If either of these companies bring out new products it’s guaranteed I’ll have it eventually I will just add it to my ever growing list but bump it up to the top.

My current obsession is liquid lipsticks there are so many brands and so many bad and good quality products my most recent being Gérard cosmetics hydra matt lipsticks which I will review and give my thoughts on soon.If you want to keep updated simply follow Glamazonianz on snap chat for sneak peaks, hauls etc.

One product that I simply think is genius is the new product by beauty blender which helps you create the perfect wing liner now this to me is a must have.If you are new starting out u can simply use tape but if u are sick of tape and find it difficult to do so alone this product is perfect. It is available online in sephora or beauty blender website.I will be adding this to my next purchase. It could well be the perfect staple in any makeup bag especially if you have hooded lids and find it hard to create an even wing on both eyes.

It’s no surprise that I have been stocking up on glitters and inglot pigments .Duo chrome and glitters are my weakness. If you haven’t tried inglot pigments you are seriously missing out as they are stunning and can be use in so many ways to enhance any makeup look.

Skincare

I see so many bloggers go mad for nipfab range especially the glycolic range. So curious as I am I managed to pick up the party set of cleanser and pads in TK Maxx for €9.99 which is a bargain.I also picked up the serum in boots on sale at a third off the price along with the viper venom range for frown lines.Im interested in trying these out as soon as my skin behaves.

Cailyn makeup and skincare range is taking Ireland by storm and of course I’ve added it to my wish list.
1.The Cailyn OWOW brush
2.The Cailyn dizsolve it cleanser
3.Cailyn HD foundation
4.matt lip tints
5.Metallic liquid lipsticks
If you haven’t heard of this range check them out u will find so many gems amongst this growing brand.

Back to makeup.Another Irish company I am obsessed with purchasing their products is push makeup. They are constantly sold out on there range of BFF eyeshadows and gel pencils. If I ever manage to get my hands on them my day will be made.
Last but not least is too faced sweet peach palatte which sold out online in minutes I’ve my fingers crossed this Comes into stock as I would break every spending ban just to purchase.

Thanks for reading and please follow our facebook page and Snapchat and Instagram to stay updated.

1.urban decay Gwen Stefani palatte -This gorgeous everyday wearable palatte has a few shades that can be worn for a night time look. This is her first collaboration with urban decay and she has done an amazing job.Since Gwen used to be a makeup artist herself I could not fault her expertise or choices in this palatte.

November favourites and disapointments by Lifa

I am a bit late to post this but better late than never .So for the month of November I’ve had products I loved and products I did not like, but the good news is ive had more likes than dislikes. So I will start with my dislikes.

Disappointing products
1.Sleek enchanted forrest palatte – I bought this because it contained such beautiful colours but sitting down trying to create a look this palatte just did not inspire me there wasn’t any decent warm or even neutral matt shades the purples looked amazing and really came out pink rather than purple/plum I had a pink eye look and believe me that was not attractive.

image

2.Again another sleek product this time. It is another limited edition palatte called Arabian nights.I think sleek are on a role with such disappointing limited edition palattes again there is no transition shades there is one dark chocolate brown(stallion) but not the most flattering shade to use with every eye look. These palattes are not the best for creating looks with the complete palatte I wouldn’t consider it travel worthy either.Whoever creates the colour scheme for these palattes really need to try harder to make it more wearable or to at least include most wearable matt transition and crease shades.

image

3.Flormar gel liner complete with a brush in the colour black.Omg this stuff is too terrible for words. It lacks pigment the black is very patchy not pigmented enough for me.It is not smudge or waterproof so u get lots of transfer.i will probably use it as a Base for my MUG duo chrome pigments. So disappointed as I seen this on a bloggers snap chat and I thought it looked good but turned out to be the most disappointing liner I’ve ever bought in my life no exaggeration.

image

Now on to the good part.Leaving behind the negative products let’s move on to the favourites.

1.Makeup geek duo chrome bundle.Oh sweet mother guys this is my most loved and cherished product if you seen my last post on reviewing mug products u would of seen my picture swatches. Please see my mug review for the swatches. Now I love this bundle so much I’d kick himself out of bed and tuck the products in beside me.I just live for duo chrome. So pigmented and has so many uses if u haven’t tried it u need to buy some I highly recommend them all.Retails for $150 for the bundle.Link below to the swatches.

Review on makeup geek eyeshadows by Lifa

2.Too faced semi sweet chocolate bar palatte- I can never get over how amazing this palatte smells. Each shadow is so pigmented and blends like a dream.i will forever purchase these they out rank my urban decay naked palatte which I never ever use they really should be on my disappointing products list.
image

3.This month I went mad collecting palattes another favourite is makeup revolution chocolate bar palatte which is a dupe to the too faced original chocolate bar palatte.I wish they smelled like the too faced ones but I love the colour pay off and the packaging again I will continue to buy and recommend this range.

image

4.Too faced born this way foundation – I bought this online while it was 10% off after doing some research to get my perfect shade I’m happy I managed to achieve that. This foundation is quite nice and wears well has a nice medium coverage to a buildable full but I really need to wear this more I’ve so many new foundations I find it hard to stick to just one.I will have a younique review soon on there touch foundation concealer and 3d lash mascara.
image

5.Anastasia Beverly Hills self made palattes and the couture palatte.Stunning shades in each palatte. It is very wearable you will not need any other palatte to complete a look pigmentation is unbelievable so blendable and buttery so many different finishes.Must have product in any makeup collection.

Self made palatte

Couture palatte

6.Sleek solstice highlighting palatte- This product is just far to pretty for words. It gives you the perfect highlight u can mix shades or choose your favourite either way I love them all.It is a combo of 3 powders and one cream. All extremely pigmented so use with a light hand.
image

7.Bobbi Brown vitamin enriched cream -This is my first ever bobbi brown product I received a sample with an order not long after I had just watched jeffree star use it in a makeup tutorial with nikkitutorials absolutely love them both they are super talented too.So after trying this out I was amazed it smelled gorgeous very herbal yet citrus type smell kinda reminded me of the bare mineral moisturiser type of scent.Little goes a long way and provides a smooth canvas for makeup skin is soft and healthy after too.It is expensive but well worth the buy it retails for €52 euro from BT or house of fraser.I have also been loving beccas shimmering skin perfector in opal.

Review of soap and glory one heck of a blot foundation

image

Okay I really liked this foundation at first I wore benefit porefessional under it and I honest to god looked like a porcelain doll but then I noticed it started to clump around my nose and mouth area and looked cakey and as I have large pores i found it sat into it just emphasising them blur pores it did not.Though it says it doesn’t cake that I found just wasn’t true when it came to my skin.At first I thought it was the damp beauty blender so I tried a flat top kabuki instead with no primer light application on my nose area worked fine but as soon as i applied a little more it caked and looked patchy.Below I will list the pros and cons and let u decide.

Pros
*Full coverage for doll like skin
*oily to very oily skin works best on.
*Lasts long enough
*Can look flawless on the right skin
*Keeps shine away
*Comes in a pump bottle

Cons
*bottle says no cakiness not true it caked on me even though I exfoliated my face the nite before
*Advertised as blur away pores and imperfections not on my skin it sat in my pores
*Not suitable for dry skin If ur combo skin type it will cake and look dry on any dry areas of ur face
*Became patchy and cakey as the day went on and wore off in areas
*This product does not layer well it drys fast so u need to work fast
*Damp beauty blender I believe effects the powder formulation of it.
*Does not work well if you have large pores
*Comes in 5 to 6 shades

Overall I loved this foundation until a few minutes after application it started to cake and sat in pores. There was a build up of product on areas I tried to add more coverage. This was a big let down for me.If you have oily to very oily skin this may work better for you but what started out lovely quickly went to crap. I recommend getting a sample before u buy for €17 euro it really let me down.

How to get Perfect Brows!

Brows have become a huge part of everybody’s makeup regime, so in order to help you all avoid the dreaded scouse brow and achieve the perfect brows we have a few little tips and tricks to  help you on your way.

brow points

To start you will need to map your brows. Take a brush or pencil and hold it against the side of your nose, mark where it hits your brow using the brow pencil, shadow or the gel you will be using. This is your start point.   Next angle from your nostril at a diagonal direction past the pupil of your eye and again mark , this will be where your arch should be. Again from the bottom of your nostril but this time passed the corner of the eye and mark where the tail of your brow will end.

Now is the time to tweeze any stray hairs if you do not have defined arches, dont go overboard, just anything below the natural hair line will do. Always tweeze under the brow never above it.

filling in brows

Now its time to connect the dots! draw a straight line under your brow from start point to arch, now draw from arch down to tail of brow, dont lengthen the brow beyond this point . do the same again on top with a light hand. now you have your shade its time to fill them in.  take your angled brow brush and gently shade in the brows, if you are using a pencil brush through with a spoolie so as to avoid too harsh a look.  Tidy any mistakes using a light coloured concealer and a small concealer brush. You can also highlight using concealer under and over the brows, this will give them a real defined look as well as lifting the face.

Brows now on point, continue with the rest of your makeup. And remember ladies as they say, your eyebrows are sisters not twins 🙂

My favourite concealers

I’ve decided to post my favourite concealers which will involve a mixture of higher end and more affordable finds.

1.urban decays naked concealer €22 from debenhams or the urban decay site.Debenhams also do a sale usually 10% so u can buy this for that little bit cheaper. This concealer is very much loved in the beauty world. There are a wide selection of shades to suit cool, warm to neutral skintones. It sets nicely and doesnt crease at all under the eye.It brightens up the eye area I also find this ideal for contour as the shade used to highlight in your routine. It feels light and doesnt feel cakey and has great lasting power throughout the day
